Counselling for all

An appointment for consultation can be booked by phone (+354 520-1082), by sending an email to radgjafi@alzheimer.is or by filling out a form on the Alzheimer Iceland’s website.

The helpline (+354 520-1082) is open Monday to Thursday from 09:00 to 15:00 and on Friday from 09:00 to 12:00.

Counselling sessions are held at the Alzheimer Iceland's office in Hafnarfjörður, by phone or via online video calls, so everyone can use this service, regardless of where they live.

Sessions can be held in English. Translation services may also be provided by the city or town you live in if needed.

Deiglan
Alzheimer Iceland runs the service resource Seiglan (which means resilience). Seiglan is a service resource for those recently diagnosed with dementia until more specialized services are needed. It is intended for people with dementia who are still in the stage of mild cognitive impairment and their families.

Day centres
Alzheimer Iceland runs three specialized day centres. The goals of the centres are to maintain independence of the patients, to ease the burden on relatives, to provide an opportunity to break social isolation and more.

The Alzheimer Iceland's website
Alzheimer Iceland maintains a website that contains information on everything related to dementia, from the diagnosis process to daily care.

Education provided by the association
Alzheimer Iceland holds regular educational lectures on topics related to dementia. They have also published a brochure and an app, Heilabilun, which is available for both iPhone and Android phones.

Can I contact the Alzheimer Iceland?
The association provides counselling to everyone who has reached the age of eighteen. You can contact them no matter where you live, whether you have dementia or think you might have dementia. Relatives, professionals, or simply people who want to know more about the issue can also get advice. The service is a part of the government's action plan for older people, Gott að eldast.

Not just Alzheimer's
Alzheimer Iceland offers services for dementia, whether caused by Alzheimer's or other diseases. Other diseases that cause dementia include vascular dementia, Lewy Body dementia, frontal dementia, Huntington’s disease, alcohol-dementia/Korsakoff and Parkinson's disease.
