The goal is to support the child, reduce the negative consequences of the behaviour for the child itself and reduce the likelihood of the behaviour repeating itself. The child's guardians are also provided with professional advice.

Foster homes are used when the Child Welfare Committee entrusts the foster parents with the care of a child. The reasons why children go into foster care can be the child's difficulties or that it lacks satisfactory upbringing conditions. Foster care arrangements can be temporary foster care, permanent foster care and sponsored foster care. In the vast majority of cases, foster care is taken with the consent and will of the parents, but sometimes it has to be taken without the consent of the parties to the case, in which case the courts will consider the cases.
Social services are provided by municipalities to their residents. They offer support to children and their families.
